CPL is looking for a full time Permit Technician.The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the permitting process and coordinating related activities between the Planning, Engineering, and Building departments in the City of Doraville; serves as a liaison between the public, developers, contractors, applicants and city staff to ensure proper processing of permits through accurate data entry; provides technical and specialized assistance to the department director; and performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional usage of grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to the public, vendors, contractors, and city staff, in person and over the telephone.
  • Must be willing to obtain a general knowledge of policies, technical processes, procedures, and requirements related to building, engineering, land use, and/or urban planning, sufficient to answer questions and provide information to the public; as well as applicable zoning and related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to use computer and software applications related to the work.
  • Able to work independently in client/city work environment.
